Peartree pollination
Using drones to pollinate pear trees can not only improve the growth of crops but also promote the germination of pollen and the growth of pollen tubes, thereby increasing the rate of speed setting and fruit set.
In the past, in addition to bee pollination, there was artificially assisted pollination, but it was time-consuming, labor-intensive, costly, and uneven. The flowering period of pear trees is short. Normally, 40% of the flowers are pollinated for the first time, and 70% of the flowers are pollinated for the second time. However, due to the low efficiency of artificial pollination, the whole process can only be completed once, which greatly affects the fruit setting rate.
Nowadays, the use of drones for liquid pollination has become the choice of more and more farmers due to its high efficiency, high fruit set, and high yield.
The DJI agricultural drone custom farming team in northern China has been the first to use DJI plant protection drones to carry out liquid pollination of pear trees since 2019.
Due to its high efficiency, uniformity, and pollen saving, the team quickly opened the drone service market for pear tree pollination.
Two people a day and one drone can operate 40Acres orchards, which greatly improves the operation efficiency. From April 4th to 13th this year, they invested a total of 15 T-series DJI agriculture drones to pollinate 1700Acres pear trees.
“We used T16 for pollination in 2019, and many orchard farmers asked us to use DJI drones for pollination this year.”
Precautions for configuring pollen solution
1- Purified water is required to ensure the quality of the water.
2- Add sugar to the water to provide nutrients to the pollen, ensure the activity of the pollen, increase the viscosity of the pollen, and improve the adhesion rate.
3- It needs to be prepared and used immediately to avoid pollen inactivation.
Operation Parameters
T30
Flight Altitude | 3 m | Flight Speed | 4m/s |
Mixture | 18L/Acre | Spraying Width | 4.7 m |
Nozzle Type | Fan shape XR11001VS | Temperaturesuggest | 6-25℃ |
Ratio:
Sugar | 100g/kg water |
Pear pollen | 40-60g/acre |
DJI agricultural drones can penetrate the pollen solution from the top of the pear tree to the roots with a strong wind field penetration, and the pollination is uniform and the effect is good.
Tip: When working on pear trees, you should avoid the high-temperature time, between 6-25 °C, to ensure the pollination effect.
Compared with manual work, drones pollinating fruit trees can not only help local growers reduce costs, ensure efficient pollination rates, improve the yield and quality of pears, but also drive local employment rates.
